This weekend we left Kate with her (fabulous) grandparents and headed to far off . . . Salt Lake City! (We know how to party.) We offered $50/night for 2 nights on Priceline and ended up at the Hilton, where they upgraded us for free to one of their premium suites (which is normally $219/night!), and even gave us free hot chocolate when I asked all pathetically where I could get some at 11:50 on Saturday night. Fabulous, I tell you! They were very accommodating, even helping to schedule pedicures and look up times and prices and directions for us. Yay for service. We normally just stay at whatever crap hotel we can find when we travel (you should've seen the hole we stayed at in Hawaii!) - this was a great treat.
Because I had wrist surgery 5 days before our anniversary, we didn't do much. But it made it all the more fun to make a mini "stay-cation" out of my birthday, which was today. We had a great time, playing and seeing shows at the planetarium, getting *pedicures, going to an improv comedy show, and eating. Honestly, we planned a lot of our weekend around the food. We had my favorite birthday dinner at my mom's house when we dropped Kate off, then headed up for dessert at the Melting Pot. Mmmmmmmm! Saturday we had lunch at a German deli (representing my mission) and dinner at a Venezuelan restaurant (for the hubby's mission). We decided that, sadly, the food we can get in Utah just isn't quite as good as what people made us in their homes in our respective mission countries. I kick myself now, thinking of how I could've spent a couple P-days learning to make some of the fabulous food I loved. -sigh-
Anyways, many thanks to my BlueEyes for making this weekend a fabulous one. It's fun to get away and just be us for a day or two, and it's also fun to come back and be with our cute girl again. Here's to another year for us and for me!
* Sadly, the pedicures didn't turn out as I had hoped. It was the first time I've convinced BlueEyes that it would be fun. Only they were abrupt and a bit rough with the cuticle scissors and gave rather shoddy "massages" that consisted of rubbing lotion around our legs and feet, instead of any massage-type action, and they didn't even give BlueEyes a longer massage for not having his toenails painted (the place I normally go would have). He's told me he'll never go back, because it just wasn't worth it. If every experience were like this one, I think I might tend to agree.

Sounds like a nice weekend. Some of the best are when you can relax and just treat yourself to some stuff.
Happy anniversary and happy birthday!
That's great that you enjoyed yourself. And even nicer that your hubby could go with you. Fun memories.
